Review of Elin Hilderbrand's Troubles in Paradise

Christy Martin

#Elin Hilderbrand tells a remarkable story in #TroublesInParadise. This book is chocked full of characters and as the book continues new ones are added. The story is told from the perspective of many and is set on the beautiful island of St. John's Virgin Islands. First we find out about Irene who has lost her mansion on the island and her home in Iowa due to the illegal dealings of her husband. Irene is living with Huck a charter boat owner, the stepfather of Irene's husband's mistress and grandfather of their illegitimate child . The husband and the mistress were killed in a mysterious helicopter crash and Huck is raising the granddaughter. Irene's handsome two sons come to live on the island and go in and out of romances and relationships very quickly. There is a lot of the island topography and character in the book as well as the popular current real estate holdings of very excusive clubs, villas and motels on some of the previously remote and unsettled property on the Virgin Islands. Elin is a seasoned story teller. This is her twenty-sixth novel. Her writing and characterizations are great and the setting is fantastic. This book is just plain entertaining. Funny at times, romantic and poignant at others and of course there is the beautiful island of St. John's. Thanks #NetGalley#TroublesInParadise for this fun read.
